Opportunity Grant
The Opportunity Grant program is designed to help low-income
adults begin - and persist in - a long-term career development
ladder. Grant funding is intended to bridge students into
college level classes and help fill the gaps traditional
financial aid cannot.
Highline's Opportunity Grant gives
special consideration to three target populations:
- pre-GED learners
- ESL students (level 4 and up)
- former foster youth
Opportunity Grant provides:
- Up to 45 credits of tuition over a 3 year period.
- Up to $1000 towards books each year
- Comprehensive and intensive wrap-around services to help students succeed.
Eligibility:
- Washington state resident (having lived in WA for the last 12 months)
- Low Income: within 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (see chart)
- Studying in an approved
professional-technical program pathway:
- Business
- Healthcare
- Education (but not Library)
- Human Services or Chemical Dependency Professional
