Worker Retraining

Training Funds for Dislocated Workers

Who can we help?


Anyone who is:
  • Currently receiving Washington state Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits or has exhausted a UI claim within the past 48 months
  • A worker vulnerable to layoff or who has recently received a layoff notice
  • A displaced homemaker (was dependent on a spouse/partner whose income has become unavailable within the last 4 years)
  • Formerly self-employed (but became unemployed within the past 2 years)
  • A Veteran or former service-member (discharged within the past 4 years)

What training programs can we help with?

  • ESL, GED or I–BEST students
  • Students in any of Highline's Professional-Technical AAS or Certificate programs listed under "Prof-Tech Options" here: cg.highline.edu

    Grant cannot pay costs for any AA or AS transfer programs

What costs can we help with?

  • Limited tuition, fees and books for required classes
  • Transportation (parking pass or bus tickets)
  • Assistance with Employment Security paperwork related to permission to attend school (CAT/TB forms)

These are held every week and are open to the public.
