Basic Food Employment & Training (BFET)
The BFET Grant is a partnership between Highline College and the Department of Social Health Services (DSHS) to provide funding assistance for education and support services. Eligible students may receive help with required tuition, school fees and books. Students may also qualify for the Working Connections childcare subsidy referral through DSHS.
Who can we help?
Anyone meeting the following criteria:
- Receiving Federal Basic Food Assistance (SNAP/EBT) from Washington’s DSHS.
- NOT receiving Temporarily Assistance for Needy Families (TANF or cash assistance). If you are receiving TANF, please visit WorkFirst Program for tuition assistance.
- U.S. citizen, refugee, or immigrant who has been in the United States 5 years or more.
Eligible Pathways
- Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) with an emphasis.
- ELCAP/ESOL, GED/High School Completion, Jumpstart, I-BEST, and Continuing Education.
- Pursuing an approved program of study listed under Professional-Technical Options
